Sequel Trilogy Revealation.

I’m going to trigger something. Rational or irrational is completely up to you. Let’s talk episodes VII, VIII, and XI from “a certain point of view”.

Initially, a lot of folks hated the prequels because they were too political. Since every trailer park poon with a Facebook law degree is relevant now, somehow, the prequels are now fan favorites. The Clone Wars and Rebels helped a lot. Masterpieces. Prime Star Wars.

Then, the sequels came. They were shunned by most, but I tried to see them through children’s eyes. Awakens was meh, Last was an enjoyable left turn, and Rise was a nightmare course correction. Recently, since learning about Project Necromancer in The Bad Batch series, I enjoyed about 75% of Rise, canonically. It’s crappy storytelling, but a good story altogether. They pooped on the legacy characters in every film as a cash grab.

Star Wars has managed to land some big name talent for an upcoming film to include Mia Goth as a villain. Since it takes place after Rise of Skywalker, I wanted to familiarize myself with the sequel trilogy again.

It’s been a long time since I’ve watched them as a trilogy, and I’m noticing a familiar trope. The characters are again in a rebellious situation against a fascist organization. SSDD, as was claimed by the fandom upon their release.

Overall, the bad penny in my pocket is direction and editing choices. That doesn’t mean it’s bad Star Wars; it’s bad filmmaking.

As before, our current political climate in this country is doing one of two things: mimicking yet another Star Wars trilogy or following the natural ebb and flow of societal collapse. We did officially enter WW3 last night.

Maybe some of the Disney Plus shows are purposely bad to make the sequel trilogy better? I am actually enjoying them when I pretend the First Order is MAGA and Trump is Emperor Palpatine.

Now, this is where you all come in. Using those parameters, who is Snoke? Who is Kylo Ren? Who is General Hux? Comment below.

Also, there’s a few other things not listed here that are floating around out there. Best of luck with the hunt.
