As someone who rides DART trains often, I’ve noticed they’ve hired some sort of outside “security” group to assist DART police with both law and ticket enforcement. Just like the security guards assisting Dallas ISD PD, they get paid to look at their phones. I don’t feel any safer, and I can imagine no one else does either.
If that’s not enough to disturb you, watch the news clip below. DART held onto all of this information for at least 48 hours until the news began digging. We’re they going to hide it from us?
This is public transit. People probably got in this same train car to go to work not knowing it’d just been hosed off for “business as usual”.
Repeat: I was instructed by a currently-employed DART police officer to NEVER ride the trains unarmed. How’s that for company PR?
