Highway Rambling

Dude. I love being married to a city chick. When we go out of town, we can split the driving right down the middle, and I don’t need to worry about her freaking out or locking up at the first sign of strange traffic. It gives me time to write.

This is her. It's cute.

The road is a brilliant monotony breaker, tending to penetrate the temporary dams of freedom’s flow. I’ve not been experiencing much writer’s block over the holidays, the opposite to be honest, but road writing is different. Road writing is reflective; unforgiving.

“Hi” from the Texas sky…

My final MBLA works were road works: Extinguished and Far From Home. They feel nothing like what came before or nothing that’s come since. Except with the latest music. I can’t seem to STFU about the past in those whiny ballads. I’m ready for fun writing again. It’s happening. Be patient.

My entire life is set up now to where I can pause within a moment’s notice to jot a line or pick a riff. Sometimes, I’ll pause a sudden bolt of inspiration with another sudden bolt of inspiration. We’re flowing again. The curse is lifting. My decade of debauchery and penance is behind me. Now, I face death; the end, at some point.

  • Butt clenching
  • Body accelerating

Perhaps sooner than later if Speed Racer’s sexy female counterpart doesn’t lay off the accelerator.

I just used the phrase “holy fuckaroni” in a sentence.

I’m comfortable in this alien skin; this sober cosplay. I write what I know and I play what I feel. No more stretching my limits to satiate the status quo. No more agents, no more conferences, no more colleagues hell-bent on stealing your thunder to peddle their own brand.

I don’t recall the last time I emitted my own thunder, fart jokes aside.

When was the last time I showed others the power of my own storm without depending on winds from the overall indie literary jetstream? It’s been a long damn time.

A decade of shadows followed by a decade of healing. Will I get a decade of contentment before I spend a decade dying?

I think it’s my choice.

Now…

Why is every Texas Highway Dick (official title) some dude in a giant, white pickup?

Also, there’s a few other things not listed here that are floating around out there. Best of luck with the hunt.

You’ve just been thinking
That’s what you do, baby
Hold it down, Dare!” – Gorillaz
