Reflection. I do it often (too often), but rarely at one thirty in the morning. At least, not in a while.

Sometimes you must take a step back to look at the broader picture. Tomorrow is the 3rd No Kings protest, and I just wanted to spend a few moments remembering what I’m protesting. It’s summed up in two words: personal freedoms. Nothing that would break any laws, but the right to do and believe how I please in my own temple.

It’s Friday night and I don’t currently reside within a recognized war zone. We sat as a family, ate pizza, and watched Back To The Future part 3. Folks, that’s a Friday night every soul on this freaking planet deserves; bare minimum. Anyone preaching otherwise is cheating your version of the human experiment. Kick that guy in the dick with a quickness.

Protesting is America’s version of “may I speak to the manager”.

I don’t believe it’s working. I think it looked good on paper, and we collectively never thought we’d need it. Well, there we go thinking again. Seriously, protests in the streets were empty threats, and the criminals called our bluff. We kept chaos at bay with constitutional fiction worthy of rounding off the Cage trilogy that’ll never happen. The NRA is in the fetal position attempting to blow itself.

Silly; Kevin Smith told me that was impossible by proxy, and that’s always been enough.

This place was built on blood, lies, and slavery, but so was every other country in the world. I can’t wait until we all find out how insignificant our own planet is in the grand scheme of things.

Now that’s a thought I can sleep to.
